We rely on our readers to help us uncover stories that matter. If you have information about political developments, business practices, institutional wrongdoing, or cultural stories with public significance, we want to hear from you. This page explains what makes a strong tip, how to get in touch, and what we do with your submission.
Who is responsible for handling tips at BritView.uk?
Tip submissions are managed by our editorial team under the oversight of Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Crawford, with all sensitive material reviewed by Oliver Reeves, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead. BritView.uk is operated by Calpe Press Ltd., a private company limited by shares registered in Gibraltar (company number 129044) with its registered office at Unit 5, The Watergardens, Waterport Road, Gibraltar GX11 1AA. Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing; these commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.
When you submit a tip, you are communicating with a newsroom that takes its legal and ethical obligations seriously. Jonathan Crawford oversees editorial policy, corrections, publication decisions and source review. Rebecca Marsh, our Managing Editor, coordinates daily newsroom workflow and article commissioning. For time-sensitive matters, the newsdesk team is your first point of contact.
What makes a good tip?
A good tip is specific, verifiable and serves the public interest. We are looking for information that reveals something the public needs to know: political developments affecting Westminster or local councils, business stories that expose market manipulation or consumer harm, data that highlights systematic problems in public services, or cultural stories with broad social significance.
We also welcome tips about institutional wrongdoing – whether in government, corporations, charities or other organisations. The most valuable tips include clear evidence: documents, photographs, recordings (where legal), data sets, or detailed written accounts. Even if you only have an idea or a lead, we want to hear it, but you will significantly strengthen your submission by providing as much context and supporting material as possible.
How should I submit a tip?
Send your tip to tips@britview.uk for story ideas and investigative leads. For time-sensitive breaking news, use newsdesk@britview.uk. Press releases should go to press@britview.uk. In your email, please include the who, what, when and where of the story, plus any materials you are able to share.
You can also indicate whether you wish to communicate on or off the record. If you request confidentiality, we will respect that. For legal or compliance questions about submitting sensitive information, contact legal@britview.uk. Our full data-handling practices are set out in our Privacy Policy.
How does BritView.uk verify tips?
All tips are reviewed by our Standards Desk led by Oliver Reeves, who oversees fact-checking, source verification and editorial standards. We never present rumours as facts. Each claim is tested against multiple sources before publication, following the procedures detailed in our Fact-Checking Policy and Sources & Standards pages.
Our verification process includes checking official records, speaking to witnesses, reviewing documentary evidence and, where appropriate, seeking independent expert analysis. If we cannot verify a claim to our satisfaction, we will not publish it. We may also contact you with follow-up questions. Confidentiality is paramount: your identity and contact details are protected under our Privacy Policy and can be discussed with our legal team at legal@britview.uk.
What happens after I submit a tip?
You will receive an acknowledgement within five working days. If your tip is selected for further investigation, an editor will contact you to discuss next steps. For details on our editorial process, see our Contact page. If you later identify an error in a published story based on your tip, please send corrections to corrections@britview.uk under our Corrections Policy.
Please note that due to the volume of submissions we receive, we cannot guarantee a response to every tip. We read every email, but we prioritise those that are clear, well-supported and clearly in the public interest.
