BritView.uk, operated by Calpe Press Ltd. (company number 129044, registered in Gibraltar), respects the intellectual property rights of all creators. This Copyright & Takedown Policy explains how we handle copyright claims, the procedures for requesting removal of infringing material, and our approach to images and media published on our site. All takedown requests should be sent to copyright@britview.uk. The Editor‑in‑Chief, Jonathan Crawford, together with the Standards & Fact‑Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves, oversee compliance with this policy. For full terms governing use of our content, please see our Terms of Use and Editorial Policy.

Who is responsible for copyright and takedown matters at BritView.uk?

The Editor‑in‑Chief, Jonathan Crawford, has overall authority for copyright compliance and takedown procedures at BritView.uk, with day‑to‑day management carried out by Oliver Reeves, Standards & Fact‑Checking Lead. Calpe Press Ltd., as the publishing company, is ultimately responsible for all legal matters, including copyright claims. All correspondence regarding takedowns, counter‑notices, or licensing disputes should be addressed to the designated team at copyright@britview.uk. Our legal and compliance function also reviews sensitive or disputed claims.

What types of content does this policy cover?

This policy covers all content published on BritView.uk, including text, images, graphics, videos, audio, infographics, and other media. It also applies to user‑generated comments submitted through our platforms or social media channels where BritView.uk has control. We take copyright infringement seriously regardless of the format. Our reporters and editors are trained to source only properly licensed or public‑domain material, but we rely on rights holders to alert us to any inadvertent use of unlicensed works.

BritView.uk primarily uses images and media obtained from reputable stock‑photo agencies, Creative Commons‑licensed sources, or original photography and graphics produced by our own staff. We credit all images and media where required by the licence. If you believe any work owned or controlled by you has been used without proper permission, please contact us immediately. We will investigate and, if appropriate, remove or correct the material.

How do I submit a takedown request?

Send your takedown request to copyright@britview.uk with the information listed below. Requests must be submitted by the rights holder or an authorised representative. We will acknowledge receipt within two business days and begin our review.

Your notice must include:

  • Your full name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A precise description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • The exact URL or sufficient location details of the material on BritView.uk.
  • A statement that you have a good‑faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete or anonymous requests may delay our response. We may forward a copy of your notice to the user who posted the content (if applicable) or to third parties as required by law.

What happens after a valid request is received?

Upon receiving a complete and valid takedown notice, BritView.uk will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material. We will notify the user or contributor who posted the content, where identifiable, and provide them with an opportunity to submit a counter‑notice. Our process complies with the applicable copyright laws of Gibraltar and the United Kingdom, including the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended). We maintain a register of all takedown notices and responses for at least three years. Repeat infringers may have their accounts or access terminated.

How does BritView.uk handle image and media licensing?

BritView.uk licenses images from established agencies such as Getty Images, Shutterstock, and Alamy, and also uses images available under Creative Commons or public domain designations. All images are credited in accordance with their licence terms, and any sponsored or commercial imagery is clearly labelled as such – see our Sponsored Content Policy for details. If you find an image that appears to be incorrectly attributed, used without a valid licence, or lacking required credit, please report it to copyright@britview.uk. We will investigate and either correct the attribution, remove the image, or negotiate a licence with the rights holder.

In addition to images, BritView.uk produces original infographics, charts, and video content. These works are owned by Calpe Press Ltd. and may not be reproduced without prior written permission unless they are explicitly offered under a Creative Commons licence. For enquiries about licensing BritView.uk’s own media, contact our partnerships team at partnerships@britview.uk.
