Who is responsible for correcting errors at BritView.uk?
BritView.uk’s corrections policy is overseen by the Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Crawford, and implemented daily by the Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves. The publication is operated by Calpe Press Ltd., a private company limited by shares registered in Gibraltar (company number 129044). Final authority for all correction decisions rests with Jonathan Crawford.
Jonathan Crawford (jonathan.crawford@britview.uk) sets editorial policy and approves significant corrections. Oliver Reeves (oliver.reeves@britview.uk) leads fact-checking, source verification, and the review of sensitive stories. All error reports are logged and tracked by the editorial team. We acknowledge every report within five working days, even if the investigation takes longer.
How do I report an error?
Readers can report a potential error by emailing corrections@britview.uk or using the contact form on our Contact page. Please include the article headline, the URL, a clear description of the alleged mistake, and any supporting evidence. The editorial team reviews all submissions and replies within five working days to confirm receipt and outline next steps.
For urgent corrections regarding factual inaccuracies that could cause harm, reporters or sources may also call the UK editorial line on +44 20 4587 9425. We treat all reports confidentially and will not disclose the identity of a complainant without consent. BritView.uk does not require complainants to provide personal details, but anonymous reports may be harder to verify.
What happens once an error is confirmed?
When a material error is confirmed, BritView.uk publishes a correction note directly on the article. The note appears at the top of the story for substantive mistakes and at the bottom for minor factual fixes. It states clearly what was originally published, what the correct information is, and the date of the correction. The article itself is updated to reflect the correction.
For errors that affect the core meaning of a story, we also add a summary correction to the article’s metadata and, where appropriate, flag the correction in our newsletter or social media. Non‑material errors – such as typographical or formatting mistakes – are corrected silently without a note. All correction notes are permanent and are archived for reference.
