Is Nuno Mendes injured? Latest injury update
Mendes has experienced several significant injury spells that have interrupted his playing time, particularly involving muscle injuries. His most notable setback came in 2023 when he suffered a right hamstring tear. PSG confirmed at the time that he would undergo surgery in Finland and miss approximately four months of action, according to The Score. Transfermarkt records that hamstring injury as lasting from May 1, 2023 to February 1, 2024.
In late 2024, PSG reported that Mendes suffered a minor right thigh injury during a match against Tottenham, with the club stating he would be treated over the following days. Separate reports also described a left knee sprain, after which he later returned to training. These recurring muscle issues are a concern given his explosive playing style.
In April 2026, Mendes was forced off during a match against Liverpool with a muscle injury, as captured in match footage. Then, in July 2026, he exited Portugal’s World Cup match against Spain after another apparent injury, an event covered by USA Today. Official PSG or Portugal team updates should be consulted for the most current return timeline.
Mendes’ documented injury spells include: a right hamstring tear requiring surgery in mid-2023 (out roughly four months), a minor right thigh issue in late 2024, a left knee sprain in a separate period, and two apparent muscle injuries in 2026 against Liverpool and Spain. His availability has been a recurring theme throughout his PSG career.
